Whimple Abseil and Teddy Zipwire

Whimple Abseil and Teddy Zipwire

In June we held a very successful fundraising event. Fifty three brave people abseiled down the side of the Church Tower and even more brave teddies took part in a Zip wire Challenge. At the time of writing it looks like awe have raised about £5500. Added to this, a further £1000 was raised by the various stalls including the Cream Teas, Pimms and Ice Creams. Many thanks to Bruce and Alice Truscott, Phil Dominy and Ian Spicer who helped to set up and organise this successful event. day. Also thanks to the different groups of musicians who provided a variety of music during the afternoon. These included Slack ma Girdle, Glorious Rascals, Service and Reception, Whimple Worship band. Thank you also to everyone who helped in any way, both church members and non-church members, and to the large number of people who supported the event.

Thy Kingdom Come

Thy Kingdom Come

On Saturday 27th May, a group of enthusiastic prayer-walkers roamed the lanes, fields and churches of the four villages praying ‘Thy Kingdom Come’, starting in Talaton and heading to Whimple (for coffee and cake), Clyst St Lawrence (for the loo!), Clyst Hydon (for a picnic lunch) and back to Talaton (for more tea and cake and the loo again). Over the course of the day, 25 or so people joined us, including the young and the not quite so young.

Many thanks to all who came. Special thanks to Tim and Sheila, our intrepid leaders, for organising the route and the prayer resources. Thanks too to Mary and team for the delicious cakes at Whimple, to Hannah, David, Jenny and Graham for the welcome use of their facilities (!), to Hannah for the cold water and oranges, and to Sarah and Chris Jones for providing the very welcome cuppa over lunch together. Definitely worth doing again!
